FEU finally beats Ateneo under Coach Shaq
MANILA, Philippines – Shaq delos Santos finally scored his first win against Ateneo de Manila University as head coach of FEU after three years.
FEU blanked Ateneo, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22 on Wednesday in the 13th Shakey's Collegiate Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
And Delos Santos simply couldn't hide his happiness.
"Actually 'yan ang pinag-uusapan namin noong Monday pa hanggang kagabi. Kailangan kung gusto namin sila talunin dapat pwede na natin simulan ngayong araw. Binigay samin ni Lord kaya thankful kami," he said.
The win was sweeter because it put the Tamaraws at the top of the standings after the quarterfinals.
"Ang target namin is pumasok kami ng semis. Pero yung number one hindi naman namin sinasabi. Kailangan pagpasok ng semis high ang morale, yung focus natin nandoon na lahat," Delos Santo continued.
The Lady Tamaraws now wait for the winner of the playoffs match between Ateneo and San Sebastian on Saturday. But Delos Santos said they are ready should they face Ateneo again.
"At least naka-isa na (kami) kahit papano. Wala naman kaming pinipiling kalaban eh. Basta paghahandaan namin kahit sino makalaban namin," he said.
