8 teams gear up for NCAA South 18th season

MANILA, Philippines – The National Collegiate Athletic Association-South (NCAA) kicks off its 18th season on Sept. 8 with First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) serving as this year’s host.

An elaborate opening rites have been prepared by the host school at the FAITH multi-purpose covered court in Tanauan, Batangas to be hosted by sportscaster Dyan Castillejo and graced by various officials of participating schools, led by Saturnino Belen, president of FAITH and Season 18 policy board.

The year’s theme is “Let’s Keep the Flame Ablaze.”

El Gamma Penumbra, the all-male, shadow play group known as the inaugural winner of the first season of Asia’s Got Talent contest, will be providing the live entertainment number during the opening rites, where Season 17 overall champions De La Salle-Lipa and University of Perpetual Help System-Laguna are going to be awarded their trophies for emerging as junior and senior division champions.

FAITH managing director Juan Lozano represented Belen during the weekly PSA Forum at Shakey’s Malate yesterday. 

He was joined in the session presented by San Miguel Corp., Accel, Shakey’s, and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. by MANCOM president Lito Arim (FAITH), and MANCOM members Steve Salazar (UPHS-L) and Christopher Quizon (University of Batangas).
