NU rues lapses in V-League victory vs FEU
MANILA, Philippines – National University assistant head coach Edjet Mabbayad is still not satisfied even if they dealt Far Eastern University its first defeat in the 13th Shakey's V-League Collegiate Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig on Wednesday.
"Marami pa din lapses na nangyayari eh. Kaya nag-five sets. Nandoon pa din yung attitude ng mga bata na minsan pag hinahabol na-ra-rattle," Mabbayad said after his wards pulled off a 25-17, 24-26, 14-25, 25-18, 15-11 victory.
Mabbayad singled out the Lady Bulldogs’ erratic performance from the service line as something they need to work on.
"Ang dami naming error eh. Mga tatlo o apat. Ang laking bagay sa amin yun kasi naghahabol kami tapos biglang mapuputol yung momentum," he continued.
FEU, however, committed 38 errors, eight more against NU.
Nevertheless, Mabbayad said he is happy that the Lady Bulldogs are now showing determination inside the court.
"Nakita ko yung kapit nila eh. Yung pagpupursige nila kahit na lumalamang yung kalaban," he said.
Additionally, there is no pressure on the defending collegiate conference champions as head coach Roger Gorayeb just wants the Lady Bulldogs to gain confidence for the upcoming UAAP wars.
"Ang instruction niya lang sa amin eh pagbutihin every game kasi ayaw niya i-pressure yung mga bata. Inspired naman sila kahit wala si coach (Roger,)" said Mabbayad.
