Ravena spreads wings in Drew League

Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines – When Kiefer Ravena decided to get his feet wet in the US' Drew League, he made sure the tournament ended up soaking wet.

Ravena – even with just little action – made sure the Drew would have him again on their courts.

"He showed up ... just visiting. There was little fanfare; nobody in the gym really knew who he was," wrote Drew League’s Aaron Williams in a feature about the former Ateneo de Manila University star.

"[I]t seems like everybody and their mama knows the name Kiefer Ravena. I found out the hard way..." Williams noted.

"I didn’t get too much burn on the court, because I came in so late," Ravena told Williams.

Williams revealed how he hard time dealing with Ravena's popularity when the latter posted a photo him swinging by the league on Instagram. The image made Drew League as a frenzied topic here.

Ravena, who has been in the US training with Protland superstar Damian Lillard, has revealed little regarding his plans after college. His role in a new edition of the Philippine national basketball team is yet to be finalized.

In the same interview, Ravena also mentioned NBA D-League cager and homegrown talent Bobby Ray Parks, along with Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson.

Ravena's team Reapers fell to Sky Ryse, 65-88.

The Drew League is arguably the most popular stop for pros during the off-season. The pro-am league has featured top-tier names in Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Paul George.

Ravena is nothing short of special at home, too. His vast skillset and impeccable basketball IQ has been in the Philippine media's radar ever since he was in third year high school.
