Anton posts podium finishes in Macau tilt

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Castrol-Yokohama Champion driver Iñigo Anton put on another strong performance to finish second in the opening round of the Asian Karting Open Championships Formula Cadet division in Macau recently.

On board his Kilton-Kart Plaza kart, Anton took the pole position in the time trials and pre-final heats but settled for second to Khazart Romoff of Empire Racing in the finals. Johary Suba came in third while Anton’s Edgesport teammate William Go wound up fourth.

Anton, backed by Edgesport, Ross Jackes, Mark Young Racing, Works Bell Japan, Autoshack, Special Stage, JSD Autosport and GNS Dagupan, also placed third behind Korean Jarred Kim and Hong Kong’s Anson Liu in the Mini Rok division after encountering tuning problems in the final heat.

“It feels great to bring home two trophies from Macau this year. I have never been that tired after a race before so it was such a great feeling to be on the podium for both classes,” the young Anton said.

He will next see action in the fifth round of the National Championships set at the Carmona Race Track. He currently paces the championship in the Formula Cadet Expert division after topping Round 1 (Carmona) and Round 3 (Palawan).
