Powerhouse US boots out Blu Girls

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines stumbled to a 0-11 loss in four innings to powerhouse USA to bomb out of the quarterfinal race in the WBSC XV Women’s World Softball Championship Thursday at Softball City Complex in Surrey, Canada.

The Blu Girls surrendered six runs in the bottom of the second inning and another five in the third against the hard-hitting Americans to hasten their fall and absorb their third straight loss in Group 2 of the championship round-robin phase.

The US softbelles swept their three assignments to lead the group’s advance to the Last-8.

World No. 2 US wielded hot bats against Mary Ann Antolihao and Annalie Benjamen, peppering the Pinay pitchers with a combined 10 hits over three innings.
