Unbeaten Army, F2 seek Superliga sweep

MANILA, Philippines – RC Cola-Army and F2 Logistics clash today in what promises to be an explosive duel of unbeaten teams with the solo lead in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference women’s volleyball tournament at stake at the San Juan Arena tonight.

Tied at the helm at 6-0, the Lady Troopers and the Cargo Movers go all out to complete their respective sweep bid of the first round, guaranteeing fierce action between the league’s powerhouse teams in the 6:30 p.m. main game.

Prior to that, Amy’s will shoot for its first win when it tangles with Cignal at 2:30 p.m. while Petron is out to firm up its hold of the third spot as it tangles with Standard Insurance-Navy at 4:30 p.m.

All matches will be aired live on AksyonTV and Hyper with live streaming on Sports5.ph.

Though the Final Four picture is already complete with RC Cola-Army, F2 Logistics, Petron and Foton safely in, the outcome of the clash between the Lady Troopers and Cargo Movers will determine which team will claim the top spot entering the second round of the tournament bankrolled by KLab Cyscorpions, Mikasa, Mueller and Asics with TV5 as official broadcast partner.

After another single round-robin, they will be ranked anew to determine the semifinal pairings with the survivors disputing the crown in a best-of-three series.

Meanwhile, the bottom four in Standard Insurance-Navy, Generika, Cignal and Amy’s will also play a single round-robin to determine placings.

RC Cola-Army coach Kungfu Reyes admitted that the younger, more aggressive Cargo Movers have what it takes to go all the way to win the crown.
