La Salle, AdU defend SBP-Passerelle titles

MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion La Salle Greenhills and Adamson U will be out to defend their titles in the Small Basketeers of the Phl-Passerelle twin tournament, an interschool basketball competition for kids, kicking off Saturday at Xavier School.

The tourney, now on its 31st season, features elimination games in NCR, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to determine  the regional qualifiers  for the national finals.

The regional playoffs are tentatively set Oct.21-24 in Davao City for Mindanao, Nov. 4-7 in Baguio for Luzon, and Nov. 18-21 in Roxas City for Visayas.

The competition is expected to draw over 600 players from more than 150 schools.

NCR school teams participating in the SBP division (9-11 years) include Ateneo, La Salle-Zobel, La Salle Greenhills and Xavier School. Joining the Passerelle (12-14) are AdU, Ateneo, La Salle-Zobel, La Salle Greenhills, San Beda College and University of Santo Tomas.

The tournament is organized by the Basketball Efficiency and Scientific Training (BEST) Center.
