Juvic finishes strong, ends up 10th
MANILA, Philippines – Juvic Pagunsan birdied the last three holes and fired a five-under 66 to finish solo 10th in the Queen’s Cup won by Aussie Scott Hend at the Santiburi Samui Country Club in Thailand yesterday.
Pagunsan, who started the final round at No. 20, actually fell farther back with two bogeys against a birdie in the first five holes. But the 2011 Asian Tour Order of Merit winner bounced back with three birdies in the next six holes then after four pars, sizzled with three straight birdies to close out his 35-31 round.
With a 275 total, the Japan PGA Tour-based Filipino campaigner ended up 10th and got $5,730 (P263,580).
Tony Lascuña birdied the final hole and saved an even par 71 for joint 11th at 276 worth $4,885 (P224,710).
Hend rallied with a 67 to snare the crown at 269 as erstwhile leader Prom Meesawat crumbled with a 72 and tumbled to joint third at 272. Gunn Charoenkul, also of Thailand, took the runner-up honors at 270 after a 66.
