MANILA, Philippines - Adamson and Chiang Kai Shek College pulled off victories over their respective fancied rivals Wednesday to seal a showdown for the ninth PCABL (Philippine Chinese Amateur Basketball League) Freego Cup at the Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City.

The Baby Falcons showed their readiness for the upcoming UAAP as they stunned the reigning titlists National University Bullpups, 89-76, while the CKSC Blue Dragons turned back the La Salle Greenies, 88-69.

They dispute the crown at 1 p.m. tomorrow.

Gerry Abadiano fired 14 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter as the Baby Falcons kept the taller, heftier Bullpups at bay to prevail in the event also sponsored by Smart, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum, Hapee Toothpaste, Insular Square (Cebu), and New Pioneer Auto Supply (Cebu).

The two teams fought to a 43-all count at the turn before Evan Agbong, Jason Celis and Carl Tamayo joined forces with Abadiano to power Adamson to a 67-60 lead.

Abadiano sustained his form in the playoff quarter as the Baby Falcons pulled away for good for a crack at the championship.

Abadiano finished with an impressive 10-of-17 shooting from the field, including 3-of-5 from the 3-point zone to claim another Freego Player of the Game award.

The CKSC Dragons, on the other hand, leaned on the quartet of John Galinato, Carl Luciano, Miguel Oczon and Rafael Toribio to beat the Greenies – thanks to a torrid start that saw them take a 23-19 lead.
