Mina, Diones cop Agoo tennis crowns

MANILA, Philippines - Zire Mina and Achaia Diones came away with two titles each to lead the winners in the eighth leg of 18th Head Graphene XT Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit at the Agoo Tennis Club in Agoo, La Union recently. 

Mina used a strong backhand to repulse Joshua de Guzman, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, and claim the boys’ 18-and-under singles crown. He also needed an extra set to turn back Joshua Molina, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, and clinch the 16-U title in the event organized by Dynamic Sports and participated in by over 100 participants around Northern Luzon.

Diones, on the other hand, blasted Angelyn Atos, 6-1, 6-1, to cop the girls’ 14-U plum then scored a 7-5, 4-0(ret.) win over Jane Mabalot to pocket the 16-U diadem in the tournament backed by Head, Chris Sports, Toalson, 92.5 FM Aksyon Sports, Reach Magazine, Philippine Tennis Association (Philta), Pilipino Mirror, ANC, Impact Magazine and Podcast.ph.

Other winners were top seed Marielle Alexi Jarata  over Frank Dilao, 4-1, 4-0 (10-unisex),  Exequiel Jucutan over Joewyn Pascua, 6-4, 7-5 (12-U), top seed Marc Andrei Jarata over Exequiel Jucutan, 6-2, 6-4 (14-U), Angelyn Atos over Amihan Biligan, 6-0, 6-0 (12-U)  and Princess Toby Manangan over Lovie Jeanne, 7-6 (8), 6-3 (18-U).
