Bayron 3 adrift in ADT Malaysia
MANILA, Philippines - Jay Bayron fired an eagle-spiked two-under 69 to trail Indonesian Danny Masrin by three halfway through the PGM Port Dickson Championship of the Asian Development Tour at the Port Dickson Golf and Country Club in Malaysia yesterday.
Bayron, who opened with a solid 67 Wednesday, actually dropped from fifth to joint seventh at 136 as a slew of players turned in more impressive rounds in a day of torrid scoring at the par-71 layout.
The former ADT Order of Merit winner eagled the par-5 No. 3 then birdied two of the next three holes to go four-under. But he failed to sustain his early surge, dropping three strokes on Nos. 8, 10 and 13 against a lone birdie on the 11th.
Masrin also slowed down with a 68 after a 65 but surged ahead at 133, one shot clear off Thai Suradit Yongcharoenchai and local bet Mohd Iylia Jamil, who shot a 68 and 67, respectively, for 134s.
Charles Hong, meanwhile, moved up from joint 22nd to a share of ninth at 137 after a 68 spiked by three straight birdies from No. 16 as he bounced back into contention in the $46,600 event, the 15th leg of this year’s ADT.
