Shakey’s V-League taps ABS-CBN as TV partner

MANILA, Philippines – The Shakey’s V-League has teamed up with ABS-CBN Sports + Action as its official television partner, confident of further boosting its stock in the ever-growing women’s volley landscape in the country.

Ricky Palou, who heads the organizing Sports Vision, told The STAR that ABS-CBN Sports + Action Channel 23 will start airing the games starting this weekend when the country’s premier women’s volley league unveils its 13th season at The Arena in San Juan.

“It’s official, the Shakey’s V-League has partnered with ABS-CBN,” said Palou,

Pre-season favorite Pocari Sweat will take on a tough University of the Philippines side at 4 p.m. while National University clashes with Team Laoag City at 6 p.m. in Saturday’s inaugurals.

ABS-CBN and Sports Vision actually started talks as early as two months ago but came to terms only yesterday with the former agreeing to allow the latter to use Shakey’s V-League as its title sponsor.

“It will be called Shakey’s V-League still, and not V-League presented by Shakey’s in our first two conferences. From there, we’ll sit down again and talk,” said Palou.
