6th Shimano Dirt and Play bikefest set at Filinvest City

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Shimano Dirt and Play Cycling Festival shifts to a new venue when it holds its sixth staging on May 29 at Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa with a big field expected to participate in various events.

“The event is a ‘cycling for all’ bikefest meant for weekend cyclists who want to have some fun, adventure and challenges in different events,” said race director Alvin Timbol. “Like in the past, we have a community fun ride and cross country races for various age-groups.”

“We always welcome the opportunity to be a part of the Dirt and Play experience, which is why we have been supporting this cycling festival for the past six years,” said Jordan Lim of Shimano Phils., the major local distributor of the leading global Japanese bike components manufacturer.

Timbol added that they re-contoured the backwoods terrain of Filinvest City, a bustling commercial, shopping and entertainment hub south of Manila, in preparation for the dirt bike competitions in the age group and advanced classes for both men’s and women’s divisions.

Among the novel races is the “Megaman” Division for male dirt bikers 200 lbs and over with the 230-lb TV production designer and food stylist Raymond Fernandez out to defend his crown.

Also on tap is the recreational ride passing through the nearby Daang Hari and back to Filinvest City.

Online registration can be made on www.dirtandplay.com with listup also ongoing at top bicycle shops in Metro Manila.
