Alvarez packs a 46-1-1 record, including 32 knockouts, while Khan has a 31-3 mark, including 19 stoppages.
The Mexican was once picked to stage an upset against Floyd Mayweather Jr. but was overcome by the latter’s speed and ring savvy advantage.
Following his fight with Mayweather, Canelo successfully improved his record in notable fights, posting victories over James Kirkland and Miguel Cotto.
Khan, meanwhile, puts himself in the shoes of an underdog in his first bout above the welterweight limit of 147. But as a welterweight, the British fighter further solidified his status as a world-class boxer to watch when he scored wins against Luis Collazo, Devon Alexander and Chris Algieri.
