Batang Painters repel Elite

MANILA, Philippines – Cristian Allen Vergara scored 13 points and Julius Christian Francia backed him up with 11 markers as unbeaten leader Rain Or Shine broke away from a tight contest to blast Blackwater, 70-56, in the Under Armour-Batang PBA 12-and-Under tournament at the Philippine Science High School gym in Quezon City last Sunday.

The Batang Elasto Painters cut loose from a close 21-18 count, putting in a barrage of baskets while holding their ground in defense on their way to a 48-25 halftime advantage. 

In other games, the NLEX Road Warriors got 14 points from Enzo Duane Samson and 12 markers from Paolo Galotera as they turned back the Star Hotshots, 53-44; GlobalPort, with Cassidy Hewel Dacanay tallying 10 points and Joaquin Espina adding 9 markers, downed San Miguel Beer, 58-44; and Phoenix, behind the 14 points each of Charles Farrel Nobleza and Andre Luke Tablizo and the 12 markers of Kurt Patawaran, dominated Barangay Ginebra from the onset en route to a 64-40 victory.
