Jumbo, SCTEX eye vital wins

MANILA, Philippines – Jumbo Plastic and Biyaheng SCTEX go for crucial victories against separate rivals as they step up their respective bids for the outright semifinal berth in the PCBL Chairman’s Cup at the Marikina Sports Center today.

The Linoleum Giants take on the Sta. Lucia Realty side at 5 p.m. while SCTEX clashes with top qualifier Mighty Sports in the 7 p.m. main game.

Jumbo and SCTEX remain tied at second at 7-4 with both teams gunning for victories. But if they wind up still tied at the close of the elims, the Giants will advance outright with a superior tiebreak score than SCTEX.

Mighty Sports clinched the first outright semis berth with a 9-2 card with the star-studded squad tipped to go all the way to the championship in the event backed by Hahn Manila, Spalding, Ambucore, During’s Barbeque and Restaurant, LGR and Gerry’s Grill.

SCTEX is on a roll, winning its last four games but needs to toughen up against Mighty Sports.

The No. 3 squad at the end of the elims will join Euro-Med, Sta. Lucia and Foton in the quarterfinal round where teams will play in a best-of-three series. Team No. 3 will face no. 6 while No. 5 battles No. 4.
