NU cops boys, girls 17-U volley crown

MANILA, Philippines - National University displayed its fiery form in the boys’ and girls’ 17-and-under divisions to take home both titles of the Toby’s Sports Juniors Volleyball League recently at the Toby’s Sports Arena in Pasig.

The NU boys’ 17-U team rallied past Far Eastern University-Diliman, 15-25, 25-22, 25-23, to bag the title, while its girls’ team blasted FEU-Diliman, 25-16, 25-22.

Lyceum of the Philippines University-Cavite settled for the boys’ 17-U second runner-up honors, while Chiang Kai Shek College took the runner-up trophy.

Meanwhile, Colegio San Agustin (CSA)-Biñan City won the girls’ 13-U title by crushing Assumption Antipolo B, 25-23, 25-14. La Salle Integrated School finished third.

Mac Arvin Bandola of NU was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) winner. Other awardees were Eryn De Lima of Lyceum (Best Libero), Sean Padon of FEU (Best Setter), Madz Abdulmuin of NU (Best Opposite Attacker), Angel Bert Navas of FEU (first Best Outside Attacker) and Mac Bandola of NU (first Best Middle Blocker).

The awardees in the girls’ category, all from NU, were Jimi Jean Jamili (MVP), Roma Mae Doromal (Best Libero), Camille Lamina (Best Setter), Kamille Cal (Best Opposite Attacker), Jamili (Best Outside Attacker) and Thea Gagate (Best Middle Blocker)

The awardees in the girls’ 13-U were Rachelle Tan of CSA (MVP), Margaret Lucas of La Salle (Best Libero), Joana Luna of CSA (Best Setter); Sophia Buena of Assumption Antipolo B (Best Opposite Attacker), Tan (Best Outside Attacker) and Mikayla Tucay of Assumption (Best Middle Blocker).
