Kaya FC tough stand inspires fans
MANILA, Philippines - Despite its failed bid to crash outright into the AFC Cup Round-of-16, Kaya FC succeeded in drawing support from fans, especially the youth, with its brand of play, teamwork and sportsmanship.
In fact, young fans of the team from Tali FC from Nasugbu, Batangas cheered them in their losing but gritty stand against Hong Kong’s Kitchie SC, 0-1, last Tuesday.
“Fan talaga kami ng Kaya – at the same time, Kaya sets such an example for my team, gaya ng teamwork, sportsmanship and integrity,” said Tali FC coach Kim Limboc.
“As someone who played football as a kid, I have come to recognize that success is all about the team. Whether we’re talking about a sports, work, school – any community for that matter – working as a team means each one cares more about the vision and purpose of their task. It’s a value that we at LBC are fortunately able to demonstrate through our support for Kaya,” said Santi Araneta of LBC Express, chief backer of Kaya FC.
Kaya’s loss kept the team at second with nine points and left it in a must-win situation against Maldivian New Radiant n Male on May 10 to advance in the AFC Cup.
