Moralde, Sabalde fight for vacant WBF crown

The Philippine Star

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines – Sanman Boxing Club’s undefeated prospect John Vincent “Mulawin” Moralde slugs it out with the slick-punching southpaw Anthony “Zorro” Sabalde of Cebu’s Noy Pacing Flores Stable for the vacant WBF International featherweight  championship today at the Gaisano Mall Atrium.

“This is our pre-Valentine’s celebration for all the boxing fans here,” said Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil, promoter of the seven-bout show that serves as their initial offering of the year.

If victorious, the 21-year-old Moralde will get the chance to train in the US alongside stablemate Harmonito de la Torre, who is now based in Miami, Florida.

Manangquil added that Moralde is also being groomed to challenge either WBO featherweight champion Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko or WBA titleholder Leo “El Terremoto” Santa Cruz  of Mexico in the future.

In the main supporting bout, another unbeaten Sanman boxer Romero “Ruthless” Duno will battle Jason Egera of Siaton, Negros Oriental for the PBF super featherweight crown.

On the other hand, PBF minimumweight titlist Ronnie “Ultimate Warrior” Tanallon also of Sanman will put his title on the line against veteran journeyman Rodel Tejares of Manila.

The rest of the card pits Reymart Gaballo of Sanman vs Bryan Samson of Cebu;  Jayson Daming of Sanman vs Sadam Barambangan; Robert Paradero vs Jan-jan Santos; and Jayson Mama of Sanman vs Ramil Padayhag.
