Blue Blade, Phoenix share World Slasher plum

MANILA, Philippines – Phoenix-II and Blue Blade Farm AA came away with eight points apiece as they shared top honors in the grand finals of the World Slasher Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum recently.

Owned by the tandem of Art de Castro and Ed Aparri in partnership with Mario Villamor, Phoenix-II finished off its rival in Fight No. 60 to notch its eighth point while Sonny Lagon’s Blue Blade Farm AA matched that output for joint first.

Celso Evangelista/Experto GFP, Inc./Nathan Jumper’s Longscore Filipinas USA Comb and Danny Lim’s LS-AA-JSFDiego Clear Cut finished tied at 7.5 points while Lagon’s Blue Blade Farm AA-5 RJM ended up with seven points in a tie with Darth Vader Jared, El Campeon/DW (Dr. Marvin Rocafort/Anthony Jacinto/CDLS), EP RJM AA PTM Sunhaven Bexan (Gov. Plaza/Paolo Malvar/Arjay Mea/Atong Ang) and CPB AAO (Gov. Claude Bautista).

Jimmy Junsay’s Darth Vader Jared, with Bobby Inigo and Dennis Reyes, had the first crack at the title in Fight No. 59 but his ace lost to Itoy Sison’s rooster released by Bicolano Ricky Magtuto via their JVS Camsur Ahluck-1 entry for 6.5 points with Willard Ty.  

Other 6.5 pointers in the event, which drew a record 411 entries, were Tamang Panahon (Boy Guinto), Deong-2 (Atty. Amante Capucchino), Longscore Blue Fever Experto GFP Inc.-3 (Experto/C. Evan), Super Eagle AAO/AA (Mayor Nene Aguilar/Sam Aguilar), JVS Camsur Ahluck-1, Mahakam Jet Sweater-1 (Jet Olaguer/Soan & Achiu), Jump Start -1 Habagat GLA (GLA/Kano Raya), Moa Wanda Salamanca 4 Kings-88 (Vice Mayor Marasigan).

Meanwhile, the World Slasher Cup-2 8-Cock Invitational Derby will be held on May 25-31, also at the Big Dome.
