The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Parañaque’s Matthew Joseph Ang and San Juan’s Julia Denise Ongchoco emerged as the top individual archers in the National Capital Region Palaro archery competitions at the Sevilla Archery Range in Quezon City recently.

Ang completed a sweep of all individual boys’ events, winning six gold medals, including the overall single FITA round (1301) and Olympic round events.  Ongchoco, on the other hand, stamped her class in the girls’ division and also came away with six individual medals, including the gold in the 30-meter and 60-meter distances and the overall single FITA round (1225).

Other top finishers were girls’ Olympic round winner Samantha Manaloto and Jonathan Reaport, both from Manila. They will join Ang and Ongchoco, together with Alejandro Lacson (San Juan), Julian Valenzuela (Muntinlupa), Jazent Tabañag (Taguig-Pateros) and Erika Manalo (Manila), in the NCR archery team set to see action in the Palarong Pambansa in Legazpi, Albay this April.

In team events, Pasig and Manila bagged the boys’ and girls’ team archery championships, respectively, while Manila copped another gold in the mixed team category of the event that kicked off this year’s NCR Palaro hosted by Muntinlupa City.
