Enriquez teams up with Molinar, tops Yulo tourney

MANILA, Philippines - Gabriel Enriquez and Domingo Molinar combined for a 166 to capture the overall championship in the 38th Jose Yulo Memorial golf tournament at the North and South courses of the Canlubang Golf and Country Club in Laguna recently.

Enriquez and Molinar turned in a pair of 83s under the Stableford Aggregate scoring system as they nipped Toshikatsu Oka and Yuji Tokunaga, who pooled a 165 from rounds of 79-86, for the crown in Cangolf’s premier member-guest tournament held in honor of the former House Speaker.

Enriquez and Molinar took home IPad Mini 4s for their feat and Oka and Tokunaga received Sony Action Cams each while Paul Schenk and Markus Knoll got Samsung Galaxy phones each after finishing third overall with a 160 from 75 and 85.

Pro-bound Jobim Carlos took the individual low gross title with a 133, beating Abe Rosal, who had a 141, while Yasuhito Yazawa won the low net honors with an 84, edging Norberto Tolentino, who had an 82, in the two-day event sponsored by Pacsports Phils., Mega Fibre, GG&A Club Shares and Gardenia and backed by hole-in-one sponsors Mitsubishi Motors Phils. Corp/Diamond Motors Corp. and The Turf Company-Club Car.

Shuji Shimogama stole the spotlight when he won a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage G4-GLS CTV in the grand raffle draw in the tournament supported by Golfworx, Bedarra Holdings, Pilipinas Golf Bag Manufacturing, Natures Spring, Peter Paul, Coca Cola, Lipovitan, San Miguel, Pepsi Cola, Pocari Sweat and Café de Lipa.

Other daily winners were Cheman Yulo-Arvi Lobangco and Luigi Yulo-Luis Castro (low net-North), Kazuo Kito-Yuzuru Naruse and Philip Pangilinan-JR Brillantes (low net-South), and Carl Corpus-Aidric Chan (team low gross) while fun hole winners were Yasuzhito Yazawa and Ting Feliciano (nearest to the pin-North) and Raoul Jorge and Yuji Haji (nearest to the pin-South); Alex Aspillera and Jonas Magcalayo (most accurate drive-North) and Bill Cammack and Mia Santos (most accurate drive-South).
