Verano, Angeles rule Mango Tee Alabang
MANILA, Philippines – Lawyer Junoy Verano and Pepito Angeles bucked the tough conditions in the final round to shoot another 79 and escape with a two-point overall win in the Mango Tee, the member-guest tournament of the Alabang Country Club presented by Petron and Smart.
Verano and Angeles, teeing off in final afternoon flight with the course softened by rains, checked in with a 158 total that gave them the overall net plum and in the process foiled the sweep bid of JB Garcia and jungolf standout Lanz Uy.
Garcia and Uy ran away with the low gross crown with their 138 on rounds of 72 and 66, losing by two to Verano and Angeles in the net category with their 156 net total.
