Floyd Sr. picks Khan to beat Pacquiao
MANILA, Philippines – Amir Khan can – and will – outbox Manny Pacquiao en route to a victory if they ever fight.
That is the assessment of Floyd Mayweather Sr., who said he thinks Khan can repeat what his son, Floyd Jr., did to Pacquiao in their megabuck fight last May.
"What Floyd did, it’ll happen again. He [Khan]’ll do it again," the elder Mayweather recently told thaboxingvoice.com.
Khan, along with young undefeated star Danny Garcia, could face Pacquiao when the Filipino icon returns to the ring next year. The British star had been itching to fight Floyd Jr. but once again failed to secure a date with the pound-for-pound king, who instead picked Andre Berto for what reportedly could be his last fight.
Mayweather and Berto will lock horns on September 12, leaving Khan without an opponent anew and prompting him to set his sights on Pacquiao instead.
Floyd Sr., for his part, believes Khan has the tools to beat Pacquiao.
"Amir Khan will win [against Pacquiao] because all you got to do is be able to outbox him. You can win,” he said. – Dino Maragay
