Future stars shine in B Pinoy Visayas

Romblon , Philippines– Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richie Garcia yesterday congratulated the new stars of the just-ended Batang Pinoy Visayas leg which featured athletes from three regions.

“They are the new breed of athletes who will represent the country in future international competitions,” said Garcia.

Among the prominent athletes were Nino Azores, Justin Mae Catindoy, Trexie de la Torre, Charles Largavista, Jil Iron Tabuena, Bernalyn Bejoy, Lucio Cuyong II, Kyla Soquilon, Danielle Patricia Valenzuela, Aaron Kefei Charles Sinining and Manilyn Cabungcag.

Boxers  Milenino Anduyan, Ramil Pingol and Carl Lester Oledan  from Leyte and Lorez John Torela of Sipalay, Robert Agupasa of Escalante, and Relson Inojales of Bohol and jins Reivax Josh Condada, Charles Angelo Rodriguez, John Lander Corpuz, Stanley Russel Lumawag, Rita Alexis Cuadra and Joy Tobongbanua also shared honors.

Azores won the long jump, 100m and anchored his team to victory in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Fellow Leyte Sports Academy runner Justin Mae Catindoy powered her team to the podium in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays and got bronze in long jump topped by Trexie de la Torre, who also won the triple jump.

Jil Iron Tabuena dominated the shot put and discus throw and Bernalyn Bejoy topped the 400m hurdles and 800m, Charles Largavista ruled the 200m and 400m hurdles held at Romblon National High School track and field stadium.

Cuyong topped the 200m individual medley, 50m freestyle, 50m, 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke.

Iloilo mermaid Valenzuela ruled the 200m  and 400m individual medley, 100m butterfly, and 200m medley relay.

Sinining and Cabungcag of Escalante City (Negros Occidental) swept the blitz, rapid and standard events in chess. 

Carl Baran and Valerie Desoyo shone in tennis and so with Cody Torres and Katrina Licel Togado in table tennis.
