3 p.m. – La Salle-Dasma vs Arellano

MANILA, Philippines - Far Eastern U goes all-out to stop powerhouse Ateneo and notch the coveted semifinal berth even as Arellano U tries to stay in the Final Four hunt against ousted La Salle-Dasmariñas in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan today.

The Lady Tams have won their two games in the quarters to force a three-way tie for second with the UST Tigresses and the National U Lady Bulldogs at 4-1. But the Morayta-based squad is hard-pressed to hurdle at least one of its last two matches against Ateneo and UST next week to advance to the post-elims play of the event presented by PLDT Home Ultera.

Despite trailing UST, NU and FEU at 2-3, Arellano U is hoping to tie at least one team at 4-3 with a sweep of its last two games in the quarters, including against St. Benilde next week.

NU and UST dispute the second semis berth tomorrow.

The FEU-Ateneo clash at 12:45 p.m. will be telecast live on GMA News TV Channel 11.

FEU coach Shaq delos Santos expected to come up with new defensive plays in a bid to at least slow down Alyssa Valdez, the runaway scoring leader in the league sponsored by Shakey’s.

In offense, the Lady Tams will rely on guest player and former mainstay Jovelyn Gonzaga, Toni Rose Basas and Anne Guino-O and skipper Mary Joy Palma with support to come from Ria Duremdez, Bernadeth Pons and setter Angela Negrito.

But the Lady Eagles are all set to complete a sweep of the tournament backed by Mikasa and Accel with Valdez also banking on the likes of Jhoanna Maraguinot, Bea De Leon, Amy Ahomiro and Kim Gequillana for firepower anchored on playmaker Gizelle Tan.

Meanwhile, the Lady Chiefs also hope to be on target and get past the La Salle-Dasma side as quickly as possible behind open spiker Menchie Tubiera, Danna Henson, Christine Joy Rosario and guest player Carmina Aganon.

Gametime is at 3 p.m. Both games can also be viewed live via streaming on www.v-league.ph, according to the organizing Sports Vision.
