The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Pierre Ticzon emerged the day’s overall top scorer and the surprise boys Class C leader with his 50 points in the first round of the ICTSI-JGFP School Season Series Tournament Developmental Division at the short but challenging Philippine Navy Golf Club course.

Ticzon wound up five points clear of the more seasoned Josh Jorge to lead the pack of boys leaders in the first of six rounds of the series conducted by The Junior Golfers League that also included Wang Seon-Jae, Sean Granada, Christopher Popp, Sebastian Arenas, Andrew Chua, Vince Tiamsic and Rocco Pineda.

Arenas, Chua and Tiamsic all carded 41 points in the Molave system of scoring to figure in a three-way tie for the lead in Class E of the tourney backed mainly by the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. Foundation and sponsored by Philippine Golf Foundation, Martin Lorenzo, Golf Depot and Inquirer Golf that will count only the best three rounds.

Wang exploded with 40 points to pull away from Jordan Chan (24) in Class A, Popp made 46 and barely edged ahead of Marc Corrales (44) in Class B, Granada’s 47 pushed him three up on Zach Castro in Class D and Pineda’s 9-hole effort of 9 put him four up on Julian Lhuillier.

The girls leaders were Annika Cedo, Tomi Arejola, Sam Dizon, Princess Pascua, and Venice Tiamsic.

Cedo (47) led Bela Miravite (42) by five in Class A, Arejola (41) had a one-point lead on Mariel Tee in Class B, Dizon (36) finished 11 ahead of Theresa Agdamag in Class C, Pascua (33) took a seven-point lead over Annika Chua in Class D and Tiamsic (14) was also up by seven over Stevie Umali.
