Dimakiling rules Sison Open chess

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – Davao City’s International Master Oliver Dimakiling ruled the open category of the  Gov. Amado Espino Jr. Open chess tournament held at the gymnasium of the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here.

Dimakiling took home P25,000 and trophy; followed by IM Emmanuel Senador with P20,000 cash prize and trophy. Pangasinan’s  IM Haridas Pascua settled for third worth P15,000 and trophy.

The other winners were GM Oliver Barbosa of Rizal (P10,000 plus medal), NM Emmanuel Emperado (P7,000 plus medal), NM Alcon John Datu of Quezon City (P5,000). IM Paulo Bersamina of Pasay,  FM Mari Joseph Turqueza of Quezon City, IM Joel Pimentel of Manila and Virgen Gil Ruaya of Manila all took home P3,500 each.

Joseph Navarro, NM Raymond Salcedo, Ricardo Batcho, NM Giovanni Mejia, and GM Richard Bitoon each took home P2,500 for 11th-15th places, respectively.

Narciso Gumila, Jan Nigel Galan, Marc Christian Nazario, Erwin Tabor and IM Richelieu Salcedo each took P1,500 for 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th places, respectively.

Dennis Gutierrez III of San Fabian town ruled the kiddie category and pocketed P7,000 and a trophy.

Gutierrez is followed by his elder brother, Dennis II, who took home P5,000 and a medal, followed by Lejither Paul Uy with P3,000 and medal and Wycliffe Aromin (P2,000 and medal).
