MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo guns for its third straight win and the solo lead as it collides with Far Eastern U while National U and University of the Philippines seek their first victory in the UAAP women’s volleyball at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After steering the Lady Eagles to victories over the Lady Bulldogs and the Adamson Lady Falcons, top hitter Alyssa Valdez hopes to raise the level of their game against the Lady Tams in their 2 p.m. encounter.?       

“We are just enjoying the game and we are surprised by the results,” said Valdez. “But we need to be consistent especially on our service and receive.”

The Lady Bulldogs, meanwhile, try to check their two-game skid with a victory over the Lady Maroons at 4 p.m.

In men’s play, titleholder NU seeks its third win in row as it takes on La Salle (0-1) at 10 a.m., right after University of Santo Tomas (1-0) and Ateneo (1-1) clash at 8 a.m.       ?      

Ella de Jesus, Michelle Morente, setter Jia Morado and libero Denden Lazaro have been dishing out big games for the Lady Eagles with Valdez playing true to form in the first two games.

Ateneo swamped NU, 25-21, 25-18, 25-15, and Adamson in succession, 25-16, 25-18, 25-14, to join idle La Salle at the helm.

But the Lady Eagles brace for a tougher outing this time with the Lady Tamaraws also out to score a follow-up to their 25-14, 26-24, 25-20 win over the Lady Maroons last Sunday.

“We are preparing hard for this and we are hoping for a good result,” said Valdez.  ?        

FEU had an intact roster in hard-spiking Bernadette Pons, Remy Palma, Geneveve Casugod, Charm Simborio, Tin Agno and Yna Papa, who took over the playmaking chores from Gyzelle Sy.       ?
