Actor Richard Gutierrez joins Cannonball 1000

MANILA, Philippines - Kapuso actor and avid sportsman Richard Gutierrez is joining the ranks of those answering the challenge of the Cannonball 1000, a novel motorsports event featuring cars and motorcycles traversing the scenic routes of North Luzon covering 1,000 kilometers.

Fresh from an appearance in the highly demanding Ducati Cup aboard his Ducati Multistrada in April this year, Gutierrez is a known extreme sports enthusiast and a motorsports buff ready to take on winding roads as all participants are challenged to undertake a route of over 1,000 kilometers under a time limit of only 24 hours.

He, alongside other riders and drivers will be testing their superbikes and cars to the limit as they begin their day-long journey from the Widus Hotel and Casino in Clark, Pampanga on the night of Jan. 9, 2015. Participants will then have to pass through the towns of Baloc, Ilagan, Tuguegarao, Aparri, Pagudpud, Laoag, Vigan, La Union, Baguio, and Tarlac and back to Clark.

The Cannonball 1000 is open to all cars and motorcycles with displacements of 301cc and above to ride along the scenic North Luzon loop.

Underbones and scooters pegged at 300cc and below will fall under a class of their own, the Cannonball 500, which will be tracing a similar but more compact route of 500 kms under a 12-hour time limit.

The cast has already lured some prominent personalities, such as

Danby Henares, host of the TV show Xtreme Riders and seasoned long-distance Fil-Am rider Rene Marquez.

The special Cannonball Group Event will be composed of 10 riders for each team to get on any bike of their choosing (open class) and ride together as one group.
