PLDT Home Telpad stops Meralco, keeps Finals hopes alive

MANILA, Philippines -- PLDT Home Telpad hung tough in the end as it escaped past a gritty Meralco side, 25-20, 25-14, 22-25, 16-25, 17-15, to stay in the finals hunt in the women's division of the Shakey's V-League Season 11 3rd Conference at The Arena in San Juan City Tuesday night.

Gretchel Soltones and Laurence Ann Latigay uncorked 28 and 21 hits, respectively, to help propel the Turbo Boosters to their second against the same numbers of losses and remain in the hunt for a finals berth.

Army leads the way with an unblemished 4-0 (win-loss) slate followed by Cagayan Valley at second with a 2-1 mark.

While it was the power-hitting duo of Soltones and Latigay did almost everything, Ryzabelle Devanadera took care of the finishing, scoring her team's last two points in the gripping final set to help seal the deal.

The Power Spikers fell to a fifth straight defeat.
