RTU trips TUA, makes UCAA finals

MANILA, Philippines - Alvin Pronto fired 13 points as Rizal Technologica University downed Trinity University of Asia, 73-64, yesterday to seal a showdown with Olivarez College for the 13th Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) at the Olivarez College gym.

Pronto sizzled in the second quarter as the Thunder took control on their way to a return stint in the finals of the tournament backed by Mikasa and Molten Balls.

The 6-4 Pronto scattered nine points in the second period while the rest backed him up with a gritty defense as the Thunder roared to a 40-25 lead at the turn.

Jopet Quiro and Rennel Montecillo contributed 11 points apiece for the Blue Thunder with the former’s charities in the last 5:35 put RTU way out in front, 49-32 .

Olivarez College, behind Pruvil Bermedes’ game-high 17 points, routed Philippine School of Business Administration, 95-65, last Tuesday to clinch the first finals berth.
