The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - World Bowling Hall of Famer and USBC Gold Level coach Paeng Nepomuceno will conduct an exclusive coaching seminar for coaches that belong to the Pan American Bowling Confederation in Cali, Colombia from July 4-10. The Pan American Bowling Confederation, is composed of 25 countries in the American Zone.

“I am honored to be working and to be training the coaches from the Americas and I am sure that this will be an exciting experience for me,” said Paeng.

Paeng, a six time world bowling champion and one of the world’s most highly regarded coaches, recently earned a Gold Level USBC (United States Bowling Congress), making him the first and only bowling mentor in Asia to achieve the feat. Paeng will also be holding a one day bowling specific mental game seminar after the Pabcon (Pan American bowling confederation) coaching seminar for the coaches.

“The vision of this project is for more coaches and athletes to get the vital bowling information that they need, delivered from a reputable international coach like Paeng,” said Martin Faba of Costa Rica, president of the Pan American Bowling Federation .

Developing elite athletes throughout the world is crucial to the sport’s future. Having knowledgeable coaches in place throughout the world is an important step in developing the future champions in bowling.”

This seminar is a continuation of USBC’s effort to assist in the creation of an international coach training program and enhance the strength of federations within bowling’s world governing body, the World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA).

The newly trained coaches by Nepomuceno will train their bowling athletes in their home countries and regions who in turn will develop more high-level bowlers. Those athletes will increase the level of bowling competition around the world, which will help reach the ultimate goal of securing a place for bowling in the Olympic Games.

Paeng is one of the most respected competitors in the history of bowling and he continues to give back to the sport through coaching,”said Neil Stremmel, USBC managing director and vice president of the Pan American Bowling confederation. “He is committed to teaching coaches throughout the world and we are pleased to have him join the elite rank of coaches”.
