Mayweather adviser picks Pacquiao over Bradley

Dino Maragay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s adviser is putting his money on Manny Pacquiao to defeat Timothy Bradley in their April 12 rematch, adding he believes the Filipino rightfully won their first fight.

Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather's close aide and adviser, thinks Bradley is biting off more than he can chew by taking on Pacquiao again.

“I think Manny will win the fight. He won the first one,” Ellerbe said in a recent interview with Shade 45 Satellite Radio.

Ellerbe, also the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, added that while Bradley is a great boxer, Pacquiao is on a different level.

Betting lines currently favor Pacquiao to beat Bradley, who ironically defeated the Filipino icon in their first encounter two years ago.

Ellerbe insists Pacquiao will come out on top in their rematch at the MGM Grand.

“Bradley is a terrific young fighter, but I think Pacquiao is too much for him. And I think that night the fans will see the result of that,” he added.

In the same interview, Ellerbe spoke of a possible fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather, which could still go down as the richest ever in boxing history.

“Everybody knows why the fight hasn't happened and it's because of his promoter,” he said, referring to Pacquiao’s association with Top Rank Inc. and Bob Arum, whom Mayweather vowed to never work with again.

Pacquiao, for his part, earlier stressed he won’t leave Arum to make the Mayweather fight happen. The undefeated American will take on Marcos Maidana in May.

The fighting congressman isn’t slamming the door on a Mayweather showdown.

But first, he is focused on getting back at Bradley.
