Khan to fight Collazo on Mayweather undercard

BOLTON, England — Former light-welterweight champion Amir Khan will fight Luis Collazo on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather's bout with Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas on May 3.

The British boxer and his promoters announced the fight against the American on Monday.

It will be Khan's first fight in 13 months since he struggled to beat Julio Diaz in Sheffield, England, last April.

Khan (28-3) is hoping to land a lucrative title showdown with Mayweather.

He says "I think the fight with Mayweather will happen one day but I'm not rushing and it will happen when I'm ready."

Collazo (35-5) knocked out Victor Ortiz in the second round in a welterweight fight in New York in late January.
