Thousands of personnel deployed: Police: Sinulog security ready
CEBU, Philippines - With more than 4,000 policemen and almost 4,000 students from different Cebu City universities securing the Sinulog venues, particularly the grand stand and the carousel route, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 yesterday assured it is ready for the Sinulog celebration tomorrow.
Aside from 2,185 Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) personnel, augmentation troops from the Regional Training School-7 (585), Cebu Provincial Police Office (300) Mandaue City Police Office (100), Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (100), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (510) would also be deployed.
The additional policemen also include 219 from the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) 7 in Sibonga town, who were sent out starting last night in different areas of Cebu City to augment security.
They arrived at the CCPO headquarters yesterday morning to assist the city police force on crime prevention and crowd control.
Earlier, before the Jan. 9 official opening of the Sinulog festivities, 50 RSPB policemen already came to help on routine patrols around the city. (FREEMAN)
