Cathay Pacific & Shang Plaza hold travel sale this weekend
MANILA, Philippines - Two brands that discerning travelers and shoppers love have teamed up for this weekend for the Great Escapes summer sale. Starting today until Sunday, April 15 to 17, Shangri-La Plaza Mall is hosting its first ever travel fair with airline partner Cathay Pacific offering exclusive deals on airfare to Asia, Europe and North America.
Shangri-La Plaza EVP and general manager Lala Fojas says, “We are very excited to partner with Cathay Pacific for this travel fair. Both companies share the same values and we cater to the same market, which is people who are used to a certain kind of service whether they’re traveling or shopping.”
Anna Maria Lee, Cathay Pacific marketing head, adds, “We first worked with Shangri-La Plaza in December last year when they launched their ‘10 Unforgettable Journeys’ campaign. After that successful partnership we met with the team from Shangri-La again and talked about other possible activities that we could do together and that’s when the idea to do a travel event came up.”
The launch of Summer Escapes last week coincided with the awarding of 10 winners in the Unforgettable Journeys promotion, where winners were given tickets on Cathay Pacific to cities such as Paris, London, Vancouver, Dubai and six other destinations, and will get to experience the Shangri-La Hotel hospitality.
With Summer Escapes, both Anna and Lala say that Shang and CX share a lot of things in common, the most important of which is putting a premium on product and customer experience, and that summer is the right time to take advantage of travel deals.
“We really wanted to target the summer break since most families are looking for vacation options and our exclusive promos this weekend are perfect for them,” says Anna.
The Cathay Pacific Exclusive Summer Sale is bringing back its popular tie-up with Citi credit cards — the Kids Fly Free promo where any purchase of two adult tickets entitles them to get up to two child tickets for free. This offer will be available to all destinations on Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class.
Also on offer are round-trip fares to select destinations such as Hong Kong (starting from US$90 on specific flights), Los Angeles and San Francisco (from $715), Europe (from $725), Australia (from $530), Japan (from $320), Taipei (from $190), Singapore (from $275) and many other destinations.
Travel period is from April 15 to December 15.
Anna adds, “Those who drop by can expect to get good deals from Cathay Pacific and our event partners, such as Trafalgar Packages and Hong Kong Disneyland, which will be offering special rates during the three-day sale at the Shang. Hong Kong Tourism Board will also give special souvenirs to lucky customers who purchase a Hong Kong ticket.”
Lala says, “We are looking forward to having more such fairs in the future. Our shoppers are very well traveled and are always looking for new experiences. They shop a certain way and travel a certain way because they are used to getting the best experience in whatever they do.”
The fair will be held at the Atrium of Shangri-La Plaza Main Mall, which is big enough to accommodate more than 500 people looking for travel bargains. And after that, they can always check out the 500-plus shops at the Main Wing and East Wing. It’s a weekend that promises to be fun and the beginning of a great summer escape.
