There’s no stopping BG Productions International in making movies. And we mean, big movies, to be handled by award-winning directors. No less than Ms. Baby Go, the CEO of BG Productions, announced the upcoming projects of her progressive film outfit for 2018.

In the media launch held at Marco Polo Hotel, the trailers of two films currently in production were presented to the media.

First was “Almost A Love Story” featuring Barbie Forteza and Derrick Monasterio that also stars Lotlot de Leon, Matet de Leon and Ana Capri from the direction of Louie Ignacio. It is being produced in cooperation with Salento Cinema in Italy. It will have a mainstream release aside from screenings in Italy.

The second was the trailer of “Latay,” directed by Ralston Jover which tells the story of a “battered husband” and his “abusive wife” featuring Allen Dizon in the lead. Being considered to play Allen’s wife in the film are award-winning actresses Alessandra de Rossi or Lovi Poe. The movie is being eyed as possible entry to international film festivals.

Also launched were the projects of esteemed directors Joel Lamangan, Mel Chionglo and Louie Ignacio.

Being considered as the lead actress in the Joel Lamangan project titled “Angela Lumunsad” is Kapuso actress Heart Evangelista. She plays a woman who was mistaken for a teacher and she will be caught in a romance between a soldier and an NPA member who will both fall for her. The movie speaks about the importance of education and this early there are plans to show the movie in schools.

In our interview with Direk Joel before the presscon, he narrated to us the fascinating story of “Angela Lumunsad” and we were awed by it. It is going to be a good project for Heart as the role poses a challenge for her, acting-wise. If Heart gives her heart into the role, well, she might finally get the nod and prove that she is an actress to reckon with.

Wee trust that Direk Joel can bring out the best in Heart whom he also directed in “Mano Po 6.”

Also to be handled by Direk Joel is an environmental project titled “Maruming Hangin” that has anti-pollution as its theme. BG Productions is planning to field this “satirical comedy” to the 2018 MMFF.

But Direk Joel will also act in a project to be directed by Louie Ignacio. When asked why he accepted the offer, “I have been acting ever since. I have done movies with Lino Brocka, Ishmael Bernal, and even Ben Yalung. While I am also interested to act, wala naman nag-o-offer. Now that Louie has offered me a role in a movie of his, I am accepting it,” said the multi-awarded filmmaker.

Also in the works is the mainstream project of Mel Chionglo who is currently undergoing negotiations with Lualhati Bautista for a script based on her book “Sixty In the City.”

It is Ms. Charo Santos who suggested to Direk Mel that he talk to Lualhati Bautista to to get the project and since it was Ma’am Charo who broached the idea to Direk Mel, he wants the former ABS-CBN president to play the lead role. Is it the right vehicle for Ms. Charo Santos whom BG Productions CEO Baby Go wants to work with?

Director Louie Ignacio’s movie titled “School Service” which is intended for the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, will start filming in March. This will be the first time that BG Productions will join the prestigious independent film festival.

Ms. Baby Go likewise approved another Louie Ignacio project about an “unano wrestler” and he wants no less than the one and only superstar Nora Aunor to play the mother of the midgets.

Still lined up for this year are movies from Jason Paul Laxamana, Neal Tan and Joey Romero.

Ms. Baby Go is happy to be doing a wide variety of projects under her film outfit. It is also her dream to do a movie with Star for all Season Ms. Vilma Santos and to have her own cinema where she can screen the movies that she produces. She also has an offer to co-produce a Hollywood film so Madame Baby is set to fly to the United States for a meeting.

“It is my passion to produce movies. I also help in the marketing. Thank God, we are able to sell the broadcast rights of our film so the money keeps on rolling, enabling us to continue making movies. I am happy I am able to keep my passion alive. I do movies to fire my passion and to give jobs to people,” said the amiable lady producer.
