PRO-7 lauds Tagbilaran for its drug yielders program

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino, director of the Police Regional Office-7, lauded the Tagbilaran City government efforts of taking care of drug surrenderers, with rehab programs coupled with celebration for the latter’s birthday.

Espino was the guest of honor for the blessing and inauguration of the P14-million building of the Tagbilaran City Police Office, headed by Superintendent Patricio Degay.

Espino also urged the police to review what had been taking place during the intensified illegal drugs campaigns, such as “TokHang” and the Double Barrel Reloaded.

He further reminded the police to implement what he described as ABCD, referring to “Always Busy Catching Drugs pushers and criminals.” To do this, the police must be always visible under the police beat system apparently to live up to its motto, “To serve and to protect,” he said in his speech.

The new City Police building has centralized air-conditioning, but Espino said it does not mean the policemen will always stay inside it. “Only 10 percent of the police force are in the office primarily for administrative functions,” he said, adding that he is thanking Mayor John Gessnell “Baba” Yap for his help to make the police do their duties.

Yap, in his speech after the blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new building, announced that the city government is also providing bicycles for patrol, guns and ammunition supplies to the City Police.

The city government is the donor of the lot where the new building is situated, near the City Hall, added the mayor. (FREEMAN)
