SM malls bare Chinese New Year activities

CEBU, Philippines - The year of the red fire chicken officially starts on January 28 and the celebration of this year’s Chinese New Year is incorporated with luxury, beauty, and wealth.  SM Supermalls join in this celebration of luck and bounty with activities for everyone.

The Chan Lim Family of Artists and Students together with Cebu Dynamic Youth takes the Mountain Wing Atrium of SM Seaside City Cebu into a grand exhibition of over 200 artworks done in Chinese scrolls and oil paintings starting January 21 until February 5.

There will be a Shaolin Wushu presentation in SM Seaside  on January 22 and 28, 5 p.m. at the Mountain Wing Atrium, and a dragon and lion dance around the mall during mall hours on January 28.

SM City Cebu celebrates Chinese New Year with horoscopes and Zodiac signs with the Feng Shui expert Marites Allen on January 24, 5 p.m. at the Northwing Atrium, and a Chinese dragon dance around the mall starting 10 a.m..

Mallgoers are encouraged to check out SM City Cebu’s Oriental Treasures where one can buy gems and stones for luck at the Lower Ground Floor, fronting Foodcourt from January 24  until January 31, plus enjoy discounts on Family Feast at selected Chinese food restaurants.

Starting January 27 until February 9, SM City Consolacion and SM Hypermarket Lapu-Lapu showcase their bountiful events on the Chinese New Year with the Pick the Lucky Ang Pao from January 27 to 29 at the lower ground level, indulge in Chinese cuisine and get discounts from participating food tenants in Chinese Family Feast from January 27 to February 9 in SM City Consolacion and SM Hypermarket Lapu-Lapu, and shop for lucky and traditional delicacies for a taste of Chinese culture in Mongkok Market at the mall’s atrium, and the Chinese Zodiac Forecast also at the mall’s atrium.

Be entertained with SM City Consolacion’s live performing acts presenting Chinese culture starting January 27 and 28 including the traditional Lion and Dragon dance. (FREEMAN)
