PCL Negros Occidental, Bacolod chapters elect new officers

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Councilors of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City have elected their respective new chapter officers of the Philippine Councilors’ League.

For PCL-Negros Occidental chapter, Kabankalan City Councilor Valentino Miguel Alonso won as president  with 149 votes, edging Victorias City Councilor Vincent Marie Roa, who got 142 votes, during the election held in a hotel in Bacolod, a PNA report said.

Other elected provincial chapter officers are: Marcos Escalante of Manapla town as vice president; Aurelia Garita of Pontevedra (secretary-general); Zenia Astorga of Talisay City (treasurer); Josephus Valencia of  Toboso (auditor); Rey Cordova of Ilog (public relations officer); and Wilfredo Cervantes of Cadiz City (business manager).

Voted to the board of directors were Julie Ann Vasquez of Himamaylan City, Karen Aguirre of La Carlota City, Sixto Guanzon of Cadiz City, Michael Garcia of Moises Padilla, Aileen Javier of Silay City, Audie Malaga of Victorias City, Edmundo Celiz of Talisay City, and Agustin Desuyo of Cadiz City.

For PCL-Bacolod City chapter, Councilor Em Ang was elected president during a separate election at the City Council session hall.

Ricardo Tan was elected vice president; Caesar Distrito, secretary-general; Cindy Rojas, treasurer; Wilson Gamboa Jr., auditor; Elmer Sy, business manager, Bartolome Orola, public relations officer; and Ana Marie Palermo and Sonya Verdeflor, directors.

Ang said she also appointed as directors Renecito Novero, Dindo Ramos, and Claudio Puentevella who were absent during the election. (FREEMAN)
