Siaton Councilor wins PCL Negros Or top post

CEBU, Philippines - Councilor Miguel Dungog of Siaton town was elected president of the Philippine Councilors League-Negros Oriental chapter, defeating incumbent Councilor Chester Lim of Jimamalud by 116-91 votes. A third candidate, Dumaguete City Councilor Lilani Ramon got 24 votes.

Dungog's "We Are One" group, the bets of which all won in the elections, was supported by Governor Roel Degamo who stayed at Bethel from morning until evening on Monday to extend his moral support to them.

On the other hand, former 1st District Representative Emmanuel Iway, Vice Governor Edward Mark Macias, Provincial Board Member Jessica Koppin, and some mayors and vice mayors also came to support their respective candidates.

Elected as PCL-Negros Oriental vice president is Bayawan City Councilor Mark Aurelia, secretary general is Amlan Councilor Anna Jay Mariot, treasurer is Jimalalud Councilor Delia Estrellanes, auditor is Tanjay City Councilor Daryl Aba, PRO is Councilor Marwin Acab Mason and business manager is Dumaguete Councilor Estanislao "Eslao" Alviola.

Elected directors of the board are councilors Roy Calingacion, Gerryl Opada, Gerard Napigkit, Curt Lance Maturan, Nelie Gabas, George Duran, Fructuoso Sinding Jr. and Mea Rio.

After the proclamation of the winners, Dungog will be representing the league as ex-officio member of the PB, replacing Councilor Lim.
