Negros Oriental town VM aims for economic dev’t

CEBU, Philippines - Re-electionist Vallehermoso Vice Mayor Marianne “An-An” Gustilo is pushing for the ASENSO Vallehermoso agenda, which she said will elevate her town in northern Negros Oriental into its full economic development.

Gustilo said the ASENSO platform will focus on infrastructure, trade and commerce; jobs generation, education and disaster preparedness; sustainable eco-tourism, and organic farming.

Gustilo is now running for her 3rd and last term as vice mayor of Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental, after serving one term as councilor. She said her agenda now will continue the family’s legacy of public service.

“Having served the people of Vallehermoso for nine years is not enough to satisfy my desire to help propel the growth of my hometown,” she said.

Gustilo said she will continue her women empowerment programs in the past and enhance further her family’s good track record in serving the people of Vallehermoso, citing her grandparents, Anastacio and Ines Serion, who was the country’s first female mayor of a town.

One of her accomplishments in the Municipal Council was the enactment of the anti-smoking ordinance, which strengthens the Clean Air Act, she said.

Gustilo added that she has been reaching out people in the barangays, using her own money, to help them with their livelihood and health needs. —, NORSU-G Intern (FREEMAN)
