Duterte for president?
CEBU, Philippines - Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte may run for president in the 2016 elections, according to his lawyer, Salvador Panelo, who visited Bacolod City recently.
Panelo said Duterte had been very open that he will not join the presidential race because he is not qualified and is only good for Davao. "But there might be a paradigm shift," the lawyer said.
Duterte, in a recent speaking engagement in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was quoted as saying: "If Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senators Francis Escudero and Alan Peter Cayetano were here tonight to campaign for president, allow me to tell you what I will do if I become president."
Panelo said that should Duterte decides to join the presidential race in the 2016 polls, he will face Binay and possibly Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and Senator Antonio Trillanes. (FREEMAN)
