Libeskind to unveil Century Spire in Makati

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Century Properties Group will unveil next week its collaboration with world-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind and Armani/Casa Interior Design Studio for their 60-story office and residential tower – Century Spire.

Located at Century City, a masterplanned development of premier residential, office and commercial buildings in Kalayaan Ave., Makati City, Century Spire is set to open in 2018.

Century Spire is designed by New York-based architect Libeskind, while Armani/Casa Interior Design Studio is responsible for the design of the common spaces and amenities. The showrooms will open on May 28 at the fourth level of the Pacific Star Building in Makati’s  financial center.

Five months after Century Properties formally announced the collaboration, Century Spire’s pre-sales has reached 64 percent.

“Century Spire reflects the company’s passion for delivering world-class and innovative real estate developments. We are pleased to partner with Daniel Libeskind who has designed an outstanding masterpiece, a future Philippine landmark,” Century Properties chairman and CEO Jose E. B. Antonio said.

For his part, Libeskind said he is excited to be part of a project “destined to reshape Manila’s skyline and to make a bold and optimistic statement about the future of the Philippines.”

“Libeskind advocates architecture that is expressive, communicative, out of the box, real and democratic. His remarkable design for Century Spire adds a powerful symbol of optimism and progress for our country, here in modern Makati,” said Century Properties managing director Robbie Antonio, who is also project head of Century Spire.

Century Spire is seen not only as a key addition to the Century City landscape, which is home to Century’s premiere structures that include residential condominiums, a modern mall, and soon, an IT-medical arts building, but also as a project that will reshape the Makati skyline with its unique sophisticated design.

Libeskind, who is behind some of the world’s most iconic structures, has crafted a tower with a “crown” at the top, with its shaft dividing into three and rising at different heights. Its slim base is a design feature that is aesthetically magnificent as it is a great spatial element, freeing up an area for a landscaped public plaza.

Meanwhile, Century Spire’s façade will have semi-reflective glass curtain walls, while its balconies and terraces are structured to reflect a rhythmic geometric pattern.
