41 Panagbenga visitors hurt in bus mishap

Artemio Dumlao - The Philippine Star

TUBA, Benguet , Philippines  – Forty-one employees of the state-run Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) were injured when their bus figured in an accident in Barangay Poblacion before noon yesterday.

The employees came from the Mines View Park and were headed to the Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City when the accident occurred at around 11 a.m. in Sitio Badiwan.

The DBP Hino bus was traveling a downhill road when its engine malfunctioned, according to Chief Inspector Jim Hilario, town police chief.

Bus driver Johnson Binabay, 48, lost control of the wheel and opted to slam the bus into a boulder to stop it. The impact caused the bus to roll on its side.

The passengers were rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.
