CEBU, Philippines - The City of Talisay is closing the Cebu City-bound lane of the national highway in front of St. Joseph Parish Church in Tabunok on Thursday and Friday.

City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority (CT-TODA) head Almond Dela Peña said the road closure will last for at least two hours starting at 3 p.m.

He said that church officials requested to close the road because of the volume of people expected to attend the church activities in observance of the Holy Week.

“Pero kanang Thursday kay case to case basis, if makaya ra ang mga tawo, dili lang nato i-close, inig Friday ra gyud ang fixed nga magsira ug ang pikas nga lane maoy among himoon nga two-way,” Dela Peña said.

Dela Peña is asking the motorists to be patient because of the expected buildup of vehicles traffic in the area.

Meanwhile, Mandaue City government will observe the normal working hours today.

City Administrator Danilo Almendras said there will be no half-day for City Hall employees since they will be taking a long break for the Holy Week.

Almendras said that Mayor Gabriel Quisumbing did not issue any memorandum to suspend work. He, however, said they will allow workers who wish to leave early.

"Hatagan lang og higayon ang uban nga udto ra kutob labi na kadtong molarga sa probinsiya. Kinahanglan lang nga naay mabilin nga skeletal force kay basin naay mga kliyente nga mo-transact og business sa city hall," Almendras said. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
