Drug pusher convicted to life term
CEBU, Philippines - Without showing remorse, a resident of Barangay Mayabon in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental accepted the decision of the court finding him guilty beyond reasonable doubt for selling and possessing illegal drugs in violation of Section 5, and Section 11 of the Dangerous Drugs Law.
Regional Trial Court-Branch 30 Judge Rafael Crescencio sentenced Julitre Ramos, also known as Parekoy, to suffer a penalty of life imprisonment for selling .01 gram of shabu and an additional 14 years maximum for possession of .02 grams of shabu during a buy-bust operation at Barangay Maluay, Zamboanguita in October 2015.
Cresencio, who also imposed on Ramos a total fine of P900,000, observed that the convicted man did not show any sign of remorse when the dispositive portion of the decision was read yesterday. Ramos was even smiling, which shows that he is really guilty of the crime charged.
But what saddened Ramos the most is the filing of annulment case by his wife—reportedly a “foreigner”—who lives in Siquijor and with whom they have a child.
He voluntarily gave the information that annulment proceedings are scheduled in May and June this year, and requested the warden to defer sending him to the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City because he will attend the hearings. (FREEMAN)
