Ford hits record sales in 2016

MANILA, Philippines - Ford Philippines posted its best annual sales performance in 2016 behind the continued strong demand for the EcoSport, Everest and Ranger models.

The local unit of American car maker Ford Motor Co. said yesterday it finished 2016 with 33,688 units sold, marking its fourth consecutive year of record sales.

The company said the record year was capped by Ford’s best-ever December performance, with sales increasing 13 percent year-on-year to 3,198 vehicles.

“Our big three nameplates – Ranger, Everest and EcoSport – continued to lead the charge throughout the year and further solidify the Ford brand as a top choice among Filipinos,” Ford Philippines managing director Lance Mosley said.

The Everest stood as Ford’s best-seller in the Philippines in 2016 with full-year sales rising 152 percent year-on-year to a record 12,453 units.

“The Everest raises the bar for mid-sized SUVs with its striking design, outstanding capability, and advanced connectivity and driver assistance technologies that make it one of the smartest in its segment,” Mosley said.

The EcoSport compact SUV sold 10,010 vehicles last year, while the Ranger finished 2016 as the second best-selling pickup truck in the Philippines with total retail sales of 8,158 units.
